Author Guidelines for Addiction Educator*
Articles submitted to Addiction Educator should focus on teaching about addiction. Therefore, articles can address teaching methods, techniques, strategies, approaches, systems, etc.
Articles selected for publication will be posted on the Addiction Educator website. The articles become the property of INCASE. Authors will be asked to sign a release verifying that their article is now the property of INCASE.

Manuscript Preparation
Feature article submissions generally range from about 1,200 to about 2,000 words, with column submissions generally ranging from 700 to 1,200 words. Letters to the editor should be no longer than 300 words.

Manuscript Submission
To submit articles, please save the file as a Microsoft Word document and email it as an attachment. Include a two-to-three-sentence bio below the article for each author, along with the email address of the lead author. We publish the email addresses of our authors so readers can offer authors direct feedback.

Graphic Elements
If you email photos, tables, or other graphics, send them as a separate file from the article. Figures and photos MUST be saved in a high-resolution JPEG format to ensure publication-quality images.

Photographs
Identify all photographs with a suggested caption. The captions should include the names of people shown and the location of the shot, if pertinent. If a photograph is copyrighted, the photographer or photography firm’s name also must be included so we can give proper credit.
The author is responsible for securing appropriate consent from people shown in photographs and permission to reprint copyrighted photos. If you wish to have photographs returned, request this in your cover letter and include the proper return address.

Tables, Figures, and Graphs
Tables should be double-spaced and numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in the text of the article. Provide a brief title for each. Figures or graphs also should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in the article.

You may include a list of references or a bibliography using standard APA.
